How to prepare Tamarind Chutney

Tamarind Chatney is also called Imli ki Chutney or Imli Chatni. Those who love the taste of tamarind would love this Chutney. This chutney goes well with Dosa, Idli or Rice.

How to make Imli ki Chutney? Making this chatni is easy. Given are the ingredients and method of preparation of Tamarind Chutney.

Ingredients of Tamarind Chutney

  • 1 Cup Tamarind

  • ½ Cup Jaggery

  • 1 tsp dry roasted Cumin Powder

  • ½ tsp Red Chilly Powder

  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder

  • ¼ tsp Cloves

  • Oil

  • 4 tsp Sugar

  • Salt to taste

Method of Preparation of Tamarind Chutney

Soak the Tamarind in hot water for 15-20 minutes and remove the seeds and make an extract. Now heat oil in a kadai and fry the cloves for a minute. Once done add the tamarind extract and rest of the ingredients and cook it in medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Cool the mixture and run in a blender. Strain the mixture and Cook on the heat again so that a thick mixture is formed. This Tamarind Chutney would remain unspoiled in the fridge for several days.
