Date Chutney can be made alone or in combination with fruits like apple or apricot or with tamarind. And all of them taste yummy.
How to make a Simple Date Chutney? Given are the ingredients and method of preparation of this delicious Khajur ki chutney.
Ingredients of Date Chutney
- 1/2 kilo Dates after removing the seeds
- 2 tsp grated Ginger
- 1/4 Cup Raisins
- 1/4 cup blanched Almonds
- ¼ tsp powdered Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 4 cloves
- 4 Cardamoms
- 2 cups Vinegar
- Salt
- Sugar
Method of Preparation of Date Chutney
Purée the dates in a food processor. Now put dates paste, ginger, ground spices, salt, chilli powder and vinegar in a pan and cook till dates are tender. Now add sugar to the mixture and cook till the mixture is thickened and water absorbed. Once done remove the mixture from flame and add the blanched almonds and raisins and mix well. Pour the chutney into a clean airtight glass jar. Store the date chutney for a week refrigerated and undisturbed and serve after that with roti or snacks like samosa. This date chutney would stay unspoiled for more than a month.
